How long your color lasts depends on a few factors: which color you’ve chosen, and how you take care of it. Our Magic and Velvet Collections last 6-12 weeks with proper care. Our Bright Collection will last 4-8 weeks, and our Pastel Collection will last 3-4 weeks. Basically, the darker the color, the longer it lasts!

To make the color last longer, avoid hot water and heated styling tools. Wash infrequently using cold water and a color-safe shampoo. We recommend using a dry shampoo in order to wash less frequently.

To speed up the fading process, wash your hair using a clarifying shampoo and warm water. Your color will also gradually fade over time, as well.

For non-lightened hair, you can try our Velvets Collection which will leave a subtle tint on light-blonde, medium-brunette, or auburn hair. The darker your hair, the less vibrant the color will be. On black hair, the results will be barely visible if at all. To achieve the color shown on the swatch, you should lighten your hair to a level 10 platinum blonde.

Our Lunar White is a violet-based toner that neutralizes yellow tones in the hair, because violet is the opposite of yellow. The Lunar White does not lift or lighten - it essentially masks the yellow tint in your hair!

No problem! Most of our colors can be used on yellow-blonde hair without issue. However, if you’re looking for a color from our Pastel Collection, the yellow tones can have an effect. Teal shades will appear more green, pinks will appear more coral/peach toned, and purple shades will give a more white/neutral result.

Each color line is designed to give a different amount of color, to achieve lighter, darker, or more vivid results. Pastels are the lightest in tone, Brights will be the most vivid, and Velvets will be the deepest. We recommend having pre-lightened hair for all colors, but Velvets and Magic Colors can be used even if hair is non-lightened.

On darker parts of your hair, colors will show darker and less vibrant. On lighter areas, the colors will appear more vibrant and true to the swatch. If your roots are dark but your ends are light, your resulting color will have an ombre effect.

Use a tint brush or comb to section hair evenly, then clip hair in place. Apply each color evenly using a tint brush. Leave in color for at least 35 minutes. Wash hair thoroughly with cold water. For first 3 - 4 washes, keep hair separated with clips and wash separately to prevent colors bleeding together.

First, apply colors evenly with a tint brush. Then, at the places where the colors overlap, use your fingers to massage the colors into one another.

It’s always best - and easiest - to transition to a similar color based on the color wheel. Choose a color adjacent to your current color, and avoid colors opposite your current color. If your hair is not lightened, we recommend our Magic or Velvets Collections for best results. If your hair is lightened, you can choose any color!

All of the mica used in our Magic Colors and Frost Colors is synthetic fluorphlogopite. We source only synthetic fluorphlogopite in order to avoid the child labor issues found in the natual mica supply chain.

Yes, you can use our colors on dreadlocks the same as other hair types.

Don’t panic! You can get the color out. As soon as possible, use bleach spray on any stained white surfaces. For any white towels or clothing, wash with bleach and hot water. For stains on the forehead and skin, use a makeup wipe and wash with warm, soapy water. Next time, to avoid staining on the skin, apply vaseline to your hairline before application.
